About Supernatural Works

Supernatural Works began in the enchanted bustle of the Lismore Organic Market — a place where dawn smells like fresh herbs, stallholders greet the sun, and stories are traded as often as produce. It was here that Margaret Denne first set up her little corner of magic, selling certified organic skincare and health products to a community that believed in growing gently and living well.

As she learned the meaning behind the certification logos, Margaret realised these tiny symbols were like badges of honour — little spells of trust and integrity. Wanting to help growers share their magic more clearly, she began designing banners for farmers markets across Byron Bay and Lismore. Soon her artwork fluttered above stalls like friendly guardians, inviting shoppers to wander, explore, and choose consciously.

At the same time, Margaret’s creative world bloomed even wider. While studying Painting, Drawing, and Digital Media at the North Coast Institute of TAFE, she filled her days with colour, ink, brushes, pixels and possibility. Her artwork sprouted across group exhibitions — four each year, for five straight years — transforming Supernatural Works into a wandering garden of visual stories.

In 2012, Margaret followed the winds to Sydney, carrying her creativity in one hand and her love of community in the other. She blended her digital media skills with administration, eventually stepping into Woolworths’ PlusClub in 2018 — a dream fulfilled. By 2022, she had become a Partnerships Coordinator, welcoming brands into the PlusClub family so staff could enjoy more wonder, more play, and more joy in their everyday lives.

Today, Supernatural Works continues to evolve like a living artwork — playful, soulful, rooted in community, and always a little bit supernatural.

Values

Faith & Reverence
Honouring God and His creation through careful observation, gratitude, and creative practice.

Joy & Play
Making space for laughter, curiosity, and delight — art does not have to be solemn to be sincere.

Care & Stewardship
Working with respect for land, materials, labour, and community, valuing what has been given rather than what can be extracted.

Community & Connection
Celebrating shared culture through food, stories, markets, and collaborative creative experiences.

Honesty & Simplicity
Favouring clarity, restraint, and authenticity over excess, trends, or spectacle.

Sustainability Statement

The sustainability approach of Supernatural Works is shaped by close attention to the everyday — much like a still life or a shared performance moment. It is inspired by the printed Certified Organic logos placed on farmers’ banners and market stalls: modest, functional signs that quietly communicate care, trust, and stewardship.

These visual markers strongly influence the graphic design practice. Design is treated as an act of noticing and making visible — allowing values to be seen clearly, without excess or spectacle. Like a well-composed still life, the work favours clarity, balance, and honesty. Like performance, it invites participation, recognition, and relationship.

More broadly, Supernatural Works understands that food and culture continually shape one another. The way food is grown and shared informs how communities gather, celebrate, and tell stories; culture, in turn, shapes what is valued, protected, and passed on. Sustainability lives in these exchanges — in markets, meals, signage, conversations, and quiet acts of care.

Across all disciplines, materials and methods are chosen with intention, favouring reuse, low-impact processes, and longevity. Sustainability is practiced as stewardship: honouring God’s provision, respecting land and labour, and creating work that nourishes attention, gratitude, and connection — feeding both body and spirit.
